Thursday Trend: Thankfulness

Hi friends!

Colder weather has arrive with November. I finally get to break out the fall boots, best day ever! Thanksgiving is coming up- it’s one of my absolute favorite holidays. How beautiful is it that we get to take a day alongside family and friends just to be grateful. While every day should be filled with gratitude, I love the idea of throwing a big party for those we love to hear what they are thankful for. So let’s look at some Thanksgiving party trends. I am seeing a lot of non-traditional outdoor parties, which you should know we are a fan of here at Merry!

Instead of going with the cornucopia in the center of the table, try some bright flowers! I love the added pops of color in these tables. Fall colors are gorgeous- the golds, burgundies, bright reds. But it’s okay to mix in some cool colors or bright creams in to lighten the mood! Throw in some fuchsia or even some bold blue like the bottom picture! I also adore the long tables with wooden benches. It adds a rustic charm to the table, throw on a burlap table runner but add in some unexpected decorations. Pumpkins covered in gold glitter! Place cards that you can fill in with a thankful list! Or maybe even some apples for pops of color! Get creative. Just because Thanksgiving is an old holiday doesn’t mean it can’t be spiced up in new ways! Here are some pictures to get you started. Enjoy the season of thankfulness.

Love and Sunshine! Thanks for reading, friends.

fall has fallen

okay so here in Texas, we don’t have seasons necessarily (this pin about sums it up: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/245305510924134033/) BUT we can still dream about fall decor and what ways we can incorporate fall-ish inspiration into our lives. THIS picture seriously makes me dream. The organic feel of using food as adornment is genius.

The color scheme is the other element of this image that jumps off the page. here’s the thing. i like fall, but i don’t always love the drab, dark, disposition of it. Some days I do. The simplicity and boldness of the colors is often beautiful and reminds me of the shifting seasons (or the idea of it at least). so, the balance in this picture of the colors in the corn and the blue, is just the combination that makes me long for real seasons and a cup of coffee snuggled up.

What’s your favorite thing about fall?

autumn arrangements

Happy weekend beautiful readers! I am so sorry for our absence this past week- we all have had a ton going on. I would love to promise that it will get much better but let’s be real- fall/holiday season is the busiest time of the year. Throw in work, moving, school, ect and we have our hands full! However, we are here today and ready to share a little bit of goodness.

Remember forever ago (ok it was really last Friday) when we talked about what flowers were in season? Well, today we are bringing you a few autumn floral arrangements. Some of them have seasonal flowers in them and some of them have absolutely nothing seasonal in them, they just look like fall so I couldn’t resist. Either way, get excited for some fall beauty!

Have a great weekend, we will see you next week!

what’s in season- fall

Good morning darling readers, aren’t you thrilled it is Friday? I woke up smiling because I was so excited for today and for this weekend. Plus, Hubs left me extra coffee this morning which always puts me in a great mood!

One of the biggest questions I get from people about flowers is, “What is in season?” Let me tell you, that is a GREAT question to ask!! Some flowers have become available year round and are generally season-less (I don’t think that is a real word but I still like it). These are flowers like Roses, Hydrangea, Alstroemeria, and Carnations. However, some flowers do have a true season and are generally less-expensive and more available during those months.

So what does that mean for you? It means that being aware of and using seasonal flowers can help you reduce costs for your wedding! Plus, as an added bonus, using seasonal flowers will really give your floral arrangements and wedding the feel of whatever season you are in.

Keep in mind that where you live can affect seasonality. In Texas (where the Merry team is) Dahlias are available in the fall but in some areas of the country they are only available during the summer. Also, know that if you have your heart set on a particular flower, such as Ranunculus or Lavender, your floral designer should have access to it through a wholesaler. Some flowers, like Peonies, are only available a short time throughout the year but most flowers can be purchased anytime, they just may be a little more expensive when they are out of season.

Tomorrow, we are going to be bringing y’all some pictures of floral arrangements with fall flowers but for today I figured we would just share a little guide to help you start to know what is currently in season. Don’t worry, we will do the same for Winter, Spring, and Summer soon!

merry post

Hope y’all have an amazing Friday! I am off to go prep for two weddings this weekend and finish up the pot of coffee that is currently calling my name.

Stay seasonal, stay merry!

fall farm wedding

To kick off your weekend, I am bringing you some fresh, fall, farm to table wedding inspiration. I know it’s a bit of a mouthful but it is worth it- these pictures are GORGEOUS. Over the past few months I have started loving the “farm to table” concept that has become popular. Instead of using burlap and mason jars which have become super popular for outdoor weddings, farm to table uses lots of wood, organically designed flowers, and natural details. It is a fresh twist on rustic plus it feels very warm and laid back (which you know Merry is all about) I seriously think you are going to fall in love with it too! Yes, that “fall” in love pun was intended. Just laugh at my bad joke and go look at these amazing pictures for a little inspiration.

Get ready to want to cozy up outside with a hot toddy and some falling leaves. Enjoy!

Hope this helped you get into the fall mood for the weekend! Hubs and I will be making caramel apples, eating chili, and pretending it is colder than 80 degrees outside. Enjoy your Saturday!

Stay merry

fall DIY projects

Happy October! I am so excited for this new month. No worries, I already got a jump start on my fall baking this weekend. Hubs came home from work on Friday to find a pile of pumpkin cranberry cookies and pumpkin swirl brownies. We aren’t even going to try to pretend to be healthy, we are just going to embrace that fall means a whole lot of sweets and whole lot of extra calories.

Today, I am sharing with y’all my fall craft bucket list. It isn’t very long because 1) I have a tiny budget 2) I don’t have a lot of time and 3) if I have to choose between baking and crafting with my time I usually choose baking. Are you understanding how much I love pumpkin treats? I really do want to try to make these projects happen over the next few months. They all look simple (the only type of crafting I do), budget friendly, and adorable. Ok, lets get to it!

3. Glitter Banner

That really is how simple my fall craft bucket list is. I know you must be thinking, “Is Meredith the only person who has a Pinterest account who doesn’t have a chalkboard in her home?” Yes. Yes, I am. However, this fall that is going to change. I can not wait to try these three projects! Let us know what your fall craft bucket list is, we would love to hear about the projects you are going to make.

Enjoy your first day of October & craft on!

autumn + apple wedding

Good morning beautiful readers! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Yesterday, I saw a quote on Pinterest by F. Scoot Fitzgerald that said, “Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall” Doesn’t that make you long for sweaters, boots, and pumpkin spice lattes? Seriously, I had a dream last night about Starbucks red cups, apple butter, and cider. That is how much I love fall.

Since we are in the midst of 100+ heat each day the only way I get to appease my autumn longing is by bringing y’all some gorgeous fall wedding inspiration! Warning- these pics are not going to satisfy those of you who have been wishing for pumpkins, deep browns, and chilly weather. This wedding inspiration is all about apples, deep reds, and the very beginning of this anticipated season. Don’t worry, you will still love it. Get ready for some rustic, welcoming, and lovely inspiration! Here we go!
